01 / Build the foundations
Settle these decisions together. A lodge location affects your route; your arrival time affects your first park visit; your transport determines how much luggage you can bring.
Compare a road transfer with a flight from Nairobi Wilson Airport. Use your confirmed accommodation location to select the road gate or airstrip transfer.
Stays inside the national park, outside its boundary and in neighbouring conservancies have different access arrangements. Establish where you will sleep and where each activity takes place.
Separate accommodation, meals, vehicle, guide, transfers and park entry when reading a quote. Check the currency, travel dates, guest count and whether charges are per person or per vehicle.
02 / The journey

Roads · Gates · Flights
Nairobi has road approaches through Emali and Namanga. Scheduled safari flights use Wilson Airport. The right choice depends on your starting point, accommodation and onward journey.
Your next planning decisions
Use these detailed guides together before choosing your itinerary.
Official visitor categories, vehicle charges, payment and single-access validity.
Compare broad rain patterns, photographic priorities and seasonal tradeoffs.
Separate room prices, private packages, transport and admission.
Compare a day visit, one night, two nights and a longer stay.
Compare park, gate-area and conservancy bases by access, charges and activities.
Confirm the exact landing, baggage and lodge pickup before buying flights.
Match KWS-listed entrances and approaches to your booked stay.
Short practical answers with a clear route to each detailed guide.
Get to know the destination
Explore the place and your interests alongside the practical planning guides.
Choose park drives, birdwatching and specific conservancy experiences.
Understand elephants, other mammals, birdlife and realistic viewing.
Read the geography, history and wider ecosystem behind the destination.
Place your accommodation and connect it with an agreed arrival route.
03 / Make room for the experience
Plan your visit around usable safari time, rather than calendar days alone. A late arrival followed by an early departure leaves little room for a game drive.
Write down your arrival, departure and the drives included between them. For a road itinerary, account for the journey both ways. For a fly-in stay, include check-in, the flight routing and the airstrip transfer.
04 / Before you travel
Use the current KWS Amboseli information and official payment link to check your visitor category and entry charges. Have the identification supporting that category available. A lodge booking or flight ticket does not, by itself, establish that park entry is included.
Ask for park fees to be identified in your safari quote, together with the visits they cover. If your stay is outside the park, clarify the planned entries before accepting the itinerary.
Check your eligibility and exemptions on Kenya’s official Electronic Travel Authorisation portal before international travel. Park admission is not an immigration document, and this website does not process government entry permission.
Keep identification details consistent across reservations. Save your confirmed itinerary, accommodation contacts and transfer instructions where you can access them offline.
Arrival window: KWS publishes gates opening at 06:00 and closing at 18:00, with overnight stays distinguished in its guidance. Agree daytime arrival with your accommodation; an overnight booking is not a reason to assume unrestricted late gate access.
05 / Pack for the journey
Your transport sets the luggage limit. AirKenya publishes a 15 kg total allowance, including hand luggage, in soft-sided bags. Check the operating carrier’s rules for your actual ticket; an international-flight allowance does not carry over automatically.
Compare and prepare
Choose your destinations, then prepare for the people and transport in your booking.
Compare Amboseli and the Masai Mara by wildlife interests, stay location, timing and complete safari cost. Plan a sensible combination with time for each stop.
Compare Amboseli, Tsavo East and Tsavo West by landscape, wildlife interests, lodge location and route. Plan a Nairobi-start safari with realistic transfer days.
Pack for Amboseli with a practical clothing and equipment checklist. Check safari flight baggage, dust protection, reusable containers and your booked activities.
Plan an Amboseli family safari around children’s ages, room sharing, vehicle arrangements and activity policies. Compare complete costs and a comfortable pace.

No. Amboseli Park is an independent safari planning and enquiry website. KWS is the primary source linked here for published park access, entry and visitor rules. Government payments and Kenya entry authorisation use their own official services.
Check the written inclusions. Accommodation, conservancy activities, national park entry and transfers should each be identifiable in your quote.
